ITINERARY

Arrival on Skopje airport (evening flight). Upon arrival, meet and greet with local throughout guide on Skopje airport and transfer to Skopje. Upon arrival the group will have traditional Macedonian dinner in a local restaurant in Skopje (first traditional connections with the everyday life – gastronomy in the Macedonian culture).After dinner the group will accommodate in hotel in Skopje for overnight.

After breakfast, this day the group will have sightseeing of Skopje (old & new parts of the city + visit of the Ethnological Museum – big intro for the Macedonian culture & tradition that will be witnessed in real life, during the following days). After the sightseeing tour transfer towards Macedonian wine region, to the village of Chiflik, near Demir Kapija. There we’ll have cooking classes and lunch in a local household. Upon arrival people will enjoy in preparing local dishes according to traditional recipes and tasting homemade rakija, wine and juices.After lunch, the group has a short drive for a visit of Stobi Archeological site where they’ll learn about the millennia long tradition of wine production in Macedonia.After the sightseeing tour the group will accommodate in Popova Kula winery for dinner, wine tasting of their wines and overnight.

On this day, after breakfast, the group heads towards the town of Kavadarci. After a 40min drive we arrive in the house of one local family. There the group will learn of and see the masterpiece wood carved sculptures that were made by one Mr. Marjan. The group will also have the chance to try working with the tools on pieces of wood. During the whole tour and participation the guests will be able to try some homemade “sarma” and other ”meze” that will be made by the lady of the house and also some local homemade drinks (here there is a possibility to have prepared some small wooden handcrafts with some text of the tour as a souvenir of the trip; maybe with your company logo).After our visit of the family in Kavadarci we continue to the city of Prilep. Upon arrival we will visit the monastery of Treskavec with its magnificent panorama and then head down to the city for lunch in a local restaurant.  After lunch we continue to the highest town on the Balkans and a very important bastion of the Macedonian struggle for independence in ottoman times, the city of Krushevo. Upon arrival the group will have a walking sightseeing tour (with visits of the Makedonium Monument, the Krushevo Museum, the revolutionary bullets factory and local traditional barrel maker).  After the tour, accommodation in Krushevo, dinner and overnight.

This day is predicted for some enjoyment on the beach. But, before that, in the morning we’ll firstly visit the city of Bitola. Upon arrival the group will have a walking sightseeing tour of the ”Shirok Sokak” street that holds authentic architecture and keeps the spirit of this old city alive. After the tour we’ll head towards one village which lies under Baba Mountain (Pelister National Park) called Dihovo. There the group will enjoy honey tasting from the endemic bee found only in Macedonia known as Apis Mellifera Macedonica. During the honey tasting the group will learn about the old traditional ways of bee keeping. After we’ll enjoy traditional lunch in the village and then continue towards St. Naum monastery. On the way we’ll visit a private ethnological museum in the village of Podmochani where we can see over one hundred traditional dresses. Continuing our way to the monastery we’ll pass through Galichica National Park and make a photo stop at one point from where a great panorama is shown before us. Upon arrival in St. Naum, we’ll do a sightseeing tour of the monastery and take dingy boat ride on Black Drim River springs. Afterwards the group will have free time to enjoy couple of hours on the beach. In the afternoon we’ll head to Ohrid in order to accommodate. Dinner and overnight in Ohrid. 

After breakfast today the group will have a walking sightseeing tour of Ohrid old town (with entry in Icon Galery, Samuel Fortress & take pictures from St. John Kaneo church plateau). After the tour we continue to the city of Struga. Upon arrival we’ll have lunch in local restaurant and then a visit one photo gallery of one Mr. Dushko that was officially the photographer of all Struga poetry nights. Here the group will hear about the story of this magnificent town and about the famous and globally respected Struga Poetry nights (here there is a possibility for the tour leader to read one song of some Swiss winner of the poetry nights and even make small paper souvenirs of the song read…). After the photo gallery visit the group will have a short walking tour by Black Drim River and then head back to Ohrid. In the evening the group will enjoy dinner in local restaurant with Macedonian folklore show performance. Overnight in Ohrid.

Today we’ll be visiting the Galichnik village and we will have a chance to witness the customs that are done a day before the wedding. But, before that, we’ll firstly head to Struga in order to embark on sailboats and sail to our first stop for the day, the village of Radozda. There we’ll visit the hidden rock churches. Afterwards the group continues to the village of Vevchani to see the local springs and the way of life of this big Macedonian village. We’ll also have lunch in Vevchani. In the afternoon we continue towards Galichnilk. Upon arrival the group will enjoy the lively performed wedding customs that are done one day before the wedding. Afterwards we continue to Mavrovo, where we’ll accommodate, have dinner and sleep for the night.

The day of the wedding! On this day the group must have an early breakfast and head to Galichnik village in order to be there until 08:00h latest. The wedding ceremony is starting at 08:30h. After the wedding ends at around 14:00h, the group will lunch in one of the restaurants in Galichnik and then have free time to continue partying with the locals and guests. In the evening we get back to the hotel in Mavrovo for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast today we head towards Matka canyon near Skopje. Upon arrival we’ll do a sightseeing tour of the magnificent canyon and a boat ride to Vrelo cave, believed to be the deepest underwater cave in Europe. Then we’ll enjoy lunch in local restaurant in Matka. After lunch we continue towards Panteleimon Monastery famous for its renaissance frescoes paintings. Sightseeing of the monastery. In the afternoon the group will accommodate in the hotel and have free time in Skopje. Dinner in local restaurant. Overnight in Skopje.

This day will be free for some shopping in the city until the time for departure from Skopje airport.
